As the implementation of the Midcontinent Strategic Framework advances, key working groups will be created to coordinate and support its implementation. The MSCI will first encourage partners to engage with existing Flyway-level working groups from the Atlantic and Pacific Flyway Initiatives. However, the Midcontinent Americas Flyway presents unique challenges and opportunities, especially concerning working landscapes and interior habitats, so this will likely be the first working group created.

Working landscapes are areas where natural ecosystems coexist with human land uses — such as agriculture, forestry, or ranching — and are managed to produce goods and services while also supporting biodiversity, ecological function, and conservation goals.
